This page describes the real P.A.I.G.E. beta service and is kept up to date as the service changes. It has not yet received a final professional legal sign-off.

Some parts of P.A.I.G.E. are for adults only. This page explains the age check we use for those parts, what it does with your camera, and what we keep.

Why there is a check

Adult Extreme is an age-restricted feature. A tick box or a typed date of birth is not a real check, so we use one that actually looks. The check applies only to age-restricted features. Everything else on P.A.I.G.E. works without it.

What the check does

You are asked to look at your camera at a comfortable distance and follow one short instruction, such as turning your head slightly. Software estimates whether you meet an adult age requirement, and the movement instruction is how it tells a live person from a photo or a screen. It usually takes under a minute.

The check answers one question: whether the age requirement is met. It does not tell us, or you, how old you are.

Where it runs

The check runs on P.A.I.G.E.'s own systems. No other company is involved and your camera images are never sent to a third party. They are not sent to this website either: they go directly to the software that performs the check.

What we do not keep

No camera images or video.
No face images, face crops, facial templates or anything else that could be used to recognise you.
No passports, driving licences or any other identity document. We do not ask for one.
No date of birth.
No estimated age. It is never recorded and never shown to you or to us.

What we do keep

The outcome of the check, the date it was made, when it expires, and a short reference so support can find it if you need help. That is what tells us whether Adult Extreme can be used on your account.

While this is in beta we also keep technical measurements of how the check performed, so we can improve it. These are numbers only, contain no images, are not linked to your account, and are deleted after 30 days.

If the check does not confirm

You can try again. Good, even lighting and having only your face in the picture usually helps. If it still cannot confirm, the feature stays closed and you can contact support quoting the reference shown on your account page. We will not tell you which part of the check was not met, because explaining that would also explain how to defeat it.

When it expires

A confirmed check does not last forever. When it expires, Adult Extreme closes until you complete a new one. Your other modules and content are never affected.

Where this has got to

This is a beta feature. It is being tested with a small group. We have not had it independently assessed, and we are not claiming it is certified, approved or highly effective. If it does not work for you, that is useful for us to know: please tell us through beta feedback or support.
